See outcomes of our most recent conference Rights in Exile, Global perspectives on legal assistance for refugees and IDPs. The meeting was held on the occasion of World Refugee Day on 21 June 2010.
The Respect for Refugee Rights (3R) Foundation and the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam organised a one-day conference entitled Rights in Exile Global perspectives on legal assistance for refugees and IDPs on 21 June 2010. This international conference discussed the dynamics of legal assistance to refugees, drawing on perspectives from Africa, Europe, the Middle East and elsewhere.
Approximately 70 participants attended ranging from lawyers to academics, policy-makers, social activists to media professionals, representing a wide range of interests from countries around the world. The conference remained accessible to an external audience through a live-stream connection.
A recording of the day has been made available on this conference website (see under ‘recording’ in the left menu). In addition, the 3R and ISS team are currently working on conference proceedings, recommendations and lessons learned which is expected to be final after the summer.
The 3R Foundation would very much like to thank NCDO, Cordaid and the Netherlands Embassy in Cairo for their generous support and ISS for hosting the conference.
